Regional industrial complex to be powered by green energy

Daegu Metropolitan City -  Daegu City plans to sign a cooperation deal with the Korea District Heating Corp. to secure a stable power supply and green energy for the companies operating in the city’s regional industrial complex. The deal comes as Daegu is working hard to turn itself into an energy-efficient city and is also preparing to hold the World Energy Congress in 2013.

Daegu City and the Korea District Heating Corp. will cooperate to ensure the energy supply by using idling power-generating facilities and other renewable energy sources. They will also work together to treat nuclear waste from Dalseong and set up solar power panels on the roofs of plants and other reserved sites in order to expand the supply of green energy. For businesses that might launch before a master plan has been prepared, the two also agreed to commence cooperation immediately.

Such cooperation is expected to generate more power by saving and finding new energy sources. It will also help companies in the industrial complex reduce their production costs by cutting spending on energy, eventually improving the environment and boosting the development of related industries.
