Views : 681 Date : 2012-05-14 17:33:29.000
Daegu Mayor Kim Beom-il departed Korea for a visit to the U.S., from May 2 to 8, to attend Berkshire Hathaway’s shareholders’ meeting, to be held on May 5 and 6, at the invitation of Chairman Warren Buffet. Notably, prior to attending the meeting, he will conduct activities to induce U.S. investment in Daegu, including visits to American companies from May 2 to 4.

Berkshire Hathaway is a leading U.S. enterprise that was established by Warren Buffet in 1965. It is a holding company
that possesses stakes in leading global companies, including American Express, Coca Cola, and Gillette.

The shareholders’ meeting is an annual business festival in which 35,000 people, including CEOs of major companies
worldwide, take part, engage in corporate exchanges and form mutual networks.

Chairman Buffet invited Mayor Kim to the shareholders’ meeting last year, but the mayor was not able to attend due to
the city’s hosting of the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 and attraction of the World Water Forum 2015. Mayor
Kim attended the meeting as Chairman Buffet invited him again this year.

Mayor Kim was invited to attend the shareholders meeting (May 5), brunch event (May 6) for distinguished guests,
and Borsheim (jewelry exhibition, May 6). He is also scheduled to have dinner with board members of Berkshire
Hathaway, and meetings with the chairman and executives of the IMC Group, the majority stakeholder of TaeguTec.

Notably, Mayor Kim will visit six U.S. companies (May 2 – 4) that will highly likely invest in Daegu, which the City has
been actively contacting and communicating with thus far, and conduct activities to induce investment by holding talks
about specific plans and boosting a cooperative network.
