Korea’s first super energy complex, which produces non-polluting hydrogen as a source of industrial energy and hydrogen fuel, will be established in Seobyeon-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu.
Daegu Metropolitan City signed a business agreement for the establishment and operation of a hydrogen complex, with EM Korea, which boast the best technical capabilities, in the nation, the field of water electrolysis hydrogen manufacturing.
A hydrogen complex integrates a hydrogen station that replenishes vehicles requiring hydrogen fuel. The new plant will be able to produce 50N of hydrogen per hour – a first domestically.
Water electrolysis hydrogen manufacturing is divides pure water in to hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis. The new hydrogen complex will be environmentally-friendly and energy efficient, utilizing photovoltaic power generation during the afternoon and electricity during the night.
The hydrogen and oxygen produced will be supplied to the Seongseo Industrial Complex, Gumi Industrial Complex, and hospitals in the region. Hydrogen is utilized in a variety of industries, including semiconductor refining, metal material surface treatment, dioxin removal, and ammonia synthesis. As a result, the market for hydrogen has been showing an upward trend of more than 30% year on year. It is forecasted that the demand generated by vehicles will set the general trend after 2020.
