The Daegu National Science Museum announced, on April 24, that a local company in Daegu had donated an R&D product worth 80 million to the museum. It is the first exhibit to be donated to the museum by a business firm.
The Daegu National Science Museum and RNware jointly held a donation ceremony, on April 23, in the museum. It was here that a demonstration of the 100-inch infrared touch screen* donated by RNware was offered. The museum awarded a plaque and a VIP museum membership certificate to RNware in return.
*An infrared ray touch screen: two-way multi-touch display with infrared sensors.
Founded in Daegu in 2010, RNware is an IT firm specializing in wireless video and multi-touch screens. The company developed a ‘100-inch high-speed multi-touch interactive display’ with the financial support of the Daegu Research& Development Special Zone. The 100-inch infrared touch screen, which was donated to the museum, is a major product developed by R&N.
The Daegu National Science Museum will install the screen in its ‘Infinite Imagination Room’, which will open in July, to be used to educate and train individuals to better commercialize business ideas and understand the best practices of a creative economy.
Gang Sin-won, director of the museum, said, “It is meaningful that a company donates its R&D product, which is the fruit of sweat and dedication, to a science museum for future scientists. We will use it in the ‘Infinite Imagination Room’, which is a place of education and training for realizing a creative economy.”
Kim Yeong-gyu, CEO of RNware, said, “I am happy to donate to the museum a product developed with the financial support of the Daegu R&D Special Zone. I hope that many of the students who visit the museum will nurture the dream of becoming an IT businessman like me.”
