Chief Researcher Kim Hun-ju and Senior Researcher Lee Hae-u of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (also, “Cheombok Foundation”) Clinical Drug Manufacturing Center received the Grand Prize for the Best R&D Idea in the <Technology Demand Survey for National Food and Drug Safety> competition conducted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The competition, which ran from March 20 (Wed) until April 10 (Thu), was open to proposals from both experts and the general public for “The Development of Quality Control Laws for Continuous Manufacturing Processes Utilizing Process Analysis Technology.”
Continuous manufacturing processes are those that increase the efficiency and economic feasibility of medicine production. When combined with process analysis technology* to create an infrastructure system, these processes are able to produce high-quality products using a lower level of processing energy than existing batch methods, which involve complicated production procedures and require much more time. The continuous manufacturing process not only raises the added value of related products but also allows for improved product quality and price competitiveness.
The Cheombok Foundation’s Clinical Drug Manufacturing Center (CDMC) was founded in 2012 to produce and supply standardized clinical trial medication, develop analysis methodology for medicinal products, and optimize the production process. If the CDMC’s proposed R&D technology is approved for development, it is expected to reduce the time required for process development and optimization of medicines and contribute to the production of high-quality medicinal products by establishing standards for the production and real-time quality control of domestic medicinal products.
